The idea of Ley lines is that there exists "alignments" between certain positions of geographical interest. Alfred Watkins first proposed the idea in 1921. Basically, some people believe that "paths" exist between certain points on the landscape, such as mountains, churches, castles etc., The reason behind these paths is hotly disputed, i.e. are they geological, "new age" or something else? In the "new age" camp, these paths are said to show lines of "energy flow" (what "energy" this is, though, is typically glossed over).

Either way, from a fortean's point of view, whether they exist or not is almost of secondary importance to the fact that people believe they exist, possibly saying more about humanity than about the paranormal.

This page is a collection of photographs of sites which I have visited and are believed to be important from a "Ley hunters" perspective.
